DR. SCOTT BAKER, co-founder of Rapha Ministries, graduated from the University of Kentucky and the University of Kentucky College of Medicine prior to completing a residency in Family Practice at the University of Kentucky as well. He was an active Family Practitioner for 12 years in both Winchester and Lexington, KY. The scope of his practice included family medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics. Dr. Baker is currently medically disabled but continues to actively participate as President of Rapha’s Board of Directors.
After serving indigent tribal populations in Papua New Guinea and the impoverished in Haiti, Dr. Baker was compelled by the love of God to open a free medical clinic for the uninsured in his hometown of Winchester and Clark County. Dr. Baker and Stacy founded Rapha on the foundation of Jesus Christ’s ministry of salvation, healing, and love.
Dr. Baker cherishes his two daughters and is thankful for the God-given time and grace to invest fruitfully into their lives. Personally, he loves working puzzles and assisting others in home or ministry projects.
STACY BAKER, co-founder of Rapha Ministries, and her husband, Dr. Scott Baker, were part of short-term medical missions’ teams to both Haiti and Papua New Guinea before the founding of Rapha Ministries. God used those life experiences to ignite a passion within her to serve others in need in her own hometown. She is currently the Executive Director of Rapha as well as serving on the Board of Directors. Her heart’s desire is to minister Jesus Christ’s healing love and grace to both patients and volunteers.
Stacy and Scott have two teenage daughters and she is forever awed at how God is challenging and transforming her through her two precious girls. Outside of parenting and managing the Baker household, Stacy spends her “free” time reading and running.
Stacy states, “It has been a true privilege to be a part of Rapha Ministries. Pouring out my life into the lives of others for the glory of Christ has been my great joy and fulfillment.”
DR. SUZANNE PICA, Rapha’s Medical Director, settled in Kentucky after living in many states throughout her childhood. She and her husband enjoy the size and pace of life in Winchester and consider it the ideal place to raise their three children. As a primary care physician, she values the opportunity to develop personal relationships with her patients while helping them attain and maintain good health. As a part of the Rapha Ministries team, she feels blessed to share the gifts and knowledge that God has given her.
DR. NANCY HORN-BARKER, R.Ph. grew up in Inez, KY and is a 2002 graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy Pharm.D. Dr. Barker is married to Rich D. Barker and has a stepson and daughter-in-law, Jordan and Lauren Barker. She enjoys spending time with her family which includes nine nieces and nephews and one great-nephew. Her personal hobbies are needlepoint, reading, and cooking.
She says that she believes in the mission of Rapha Ministries and wants to help further the mission. “I consider it not only my privilege, but also my responsibility, to give back to my community. Being a part of Rapha allows me to use the gifts God has given me. I am thankful for all that God is doing through this ministry and look forward to even more amazing things,” says Barker.
